2014 Book of the Year for Dr. Timothy Larsen

Dr. Timothy Larsen’s The Slain God: Anthropologists and the Christian Faith, Oxford University Press, was named Book of the Year for 2014  by Books & Culture. In 2006, his Crisis of Doubt: Honest Faith in Nineteenth-Century England, Oxford University Press, had also been named Book of the Year by Books & Culture, making Larsen the only author who has ever won this award twice.

"Larsen tells the stories of a half-dozen highly influential figures in the history of British anthropology, several of whom were themselves practicing Christians (while also showing how dubious were the conclusions of some anthropologists who thought they were indeed refuting Christian beliefs). Witty, penetrating, following the evidence where it leads, this book is a great delight." - John Wilson
