Graduate Servant Leadership

We are here to facilitate on- and off-campus service learning partnerships and outreach opportunities that integrate Christian thought and action.

Servant Leadership Opportunities

Wheaton College provides small groups for undergraduate students under the direction of Ray Chang in the Chaplain's Office.  If you are interested in leading a small group, you can reach out to ray.chang@wheaton.edu.

Grad Life 1:27 is a mentorship program designed for grad students to build relationships with undergrad students in order to share their stories with younger learners and to learn and grow in community together. Grad Life 1:27 serves as a bridge to connect grad students with what’s going on in the life of an undergrad while creating opportunities for undergrads to get to know and be spiritually mentored by an older student at their school. The motivation for Grad Life 1:27 is that there is so much life to be shared and we don’t want students to miss out on learning from the lived experiences of others. Interested grad students should please sign up here. Stevener Gaskin, our Intercultural Arts Associate, will invite you to Studio 1:27 to record a short video sharing some of your story. The vision of Studio 1:27 is for “every student to be seen and heard and for every student to see and hear others.”

Serve on the Grad Chapel Ministry Team as musicians, prayer coordinators, Scripture readers, hospitality and food hosts, tech coordinators, set up and take down people, as well as artistic and creative worship volunteers. The Ministry Team welcomes the involvement of other graduate students similarly interested in investing in the spiritual life of the graduate community. Contact Chaplain Greg Anderson (greg.anderson@wheaton.edu) to sign up!

Be a part of welcoming incoming graduate students during Fall Orientation! Volunteer roles include event coordinators, welcome team, orientation prep crew, and tour guides.  If interested, email Abby Schindler at abigail.schindler@wheaton.edu.

The Corinthian Co-Op is an entirely volunteer-run operation that takes gently used clothes and household goods and offers them to Wheaton students, faculty and staff for free. You can help support the Co-Op in 2 ways:

  1. Donate your gently used clothing to the co-op! Drop items off at their location (818 College Ave Basement). You can bring donations inside during their open hours (check website) or leave them in the container outside the steps leading to their door.
  2. Volunteer to help run the store! Volunteers are needed for sorting items and supervising open shopping hours. If interested, email corinthiancoop@gmail.com.

Grad Life has developed relationships with several local non-profit organizations who are seeking graduate student volunteers.

Grad Life Immersion Trips are cross-cultural experiences designed to engage graduate students, staff, and faculty in opportunities for praxis centered on biblical justice and ethics.
