March 22, 2018

Greg AdamsGreg Adams, Chief Operating Officer for the State of Tennessee, was recently appointed a member of Wheaton’s Center for Faith, Politics and Economics (FPE) Advisory Board.

As a Board member, Adams will work alongside FPE Director David Iglesias in designing and implementing new programs and mentoring and advising students within FPE as they prepare to enter careers in business, economics, and government.

"Greg's deep well of business experience, supplemented by his public service will be a force multiplier to the Advisory Board," Iglesias says. "We are fortunate to have him on the advisory team of national level practitioners."

“Forty-two years in business and government has given me the opportunity to manage and execute in the environments the students will soon be entering.  I am very excited about being a resource for the Center and the students as they prepare to engage the world in their various arenas of influence,” Adams says.

Adams joined the Governor of Tennessee’s senior team in July 2013 after a 37-year career at IBM. Throughout his time at IBM, Adams served as a managing director in the financial services sector, and held additional executive roles in sales, marketing, and operations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Princeton University and a Master of Science in Management from M.I.T.

In both his roles at IBM and the State of Tennessee, Adams has sought to emulate the humility of Christ.

“As a Christian, my desire, privilege, and obligation is to be an excellent worker who is genuinely concerned about my job, organization, and colleagues. Love, forgiveness, humility, patience, and generosity are some of the behaviors I seek to live out with consistency,” Adams says. “I believe God’s moral standards and purposes for government are revealed in Scripture.  Public Service is an amazing opportunity and responsibility and I count on the prayers of our citizens to help me never forget the sacred vow of my oath of office, 'So help me God.'”
