SCS Care for Parents and Families

Useful tips for caring well for your student:

  • Knowing what care looks like to your student

    - Ask them what type of care they thrive in and then support them in activating that care
  • Acknowledging the dynamics of your student's family/social groups

    - This will help provide context to reported interactions, experiences and expectations
  • Setting healthy boundaries and clear expectations

    - Supporting your student through the ups and downs that are a natural part of their development can be done through setting boundaries, having clear expectations and encouraging activation and use of resources
  • Communication is key when sharing concerns, ideas, and suggestions with your adult student.

    - Encourage them to make decisions they will have to live with
