Interdisciplinary Studies Learning Outcomes

As a result of completing the Interdisciplinary Studies program at Wheaton College, students will achieve the following learning outcomes:

  1. Students will be able to plan an individualized IDS Program of Study and to justify the integration of its respective course content from two or three academic areas, according to its goals.
  2. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the field of interdisciplinary studies within a liberal arts educational framework, including coherence and connection.
  3. Students will be able to exhibit critical thinking for the purpose of knowledge application, integrative analysis, problem-solving, interpretive commentary, and discussion leadership.
  4. To develop research and writing skills, especially for the purpose of completing an academic project that addresses a problem and validates integrative understanding.
