Digital Signage Migrating to Cloud

Effective Date: January 31, 2020

You’ve probably seen at least one digital sign around campus (for example, the big red one outside of Bon Appetit), and chances are good you’ve spotted more than just that one.  These screens were installed starting about ten years ago to help communicate information about upcoming events and deadlines to the campus community.

Thus far we have hosted the digital signage program on our own servers, and it is now time to move to the cloud!  Using Four Winds International to run this program will offer us increased functionality and make it easier for our content managers to upload their own content to the screens in their departments.

Key Benefits and Features

Moving the digital signage to the cloud provides the following improvements:

  • Significantly improving the interface for the content managers to contribute and schedule content
  • Providing key management components such as a dashboard which will allow for site-wide monitoring of content
  • Allowing Mac users to use the interface without having to rely on a Windows machine

Impact on College Community

AIT will contact the local content managers of the various departments to assist them with the changes to the interface and transition the signs one by one during the Spring semester.
