Ladies and Gentlemen, turn off your microphones!

You may have heard the phrase, “Gentlemen, start your engines!” from NASCAR car racing. We, of course, would change it now to be “Ladies and Gentlemen” but for this fall, we want to say, “Ladies and Gentlemen, silence your microphones!”
When you walk into your classrooms this fall it will be imperative that you not only silence your phones but also that you TURN OFF YOUR MICROPHONES on your laptops. If your microphone is on, that can create a feedback loop where it will get louder and louder and be impossible to stop. Because we have students joining classes remotely, you need to take an extra minute to make sure that you have turned off your microphone when you walk into your classroom.
