Deactivating Unused Ethernet Ports

Effective Date: July 12, 2017

Starting July 12, we will be deactivating at least one wired Internet (Ethernet) port in every dorm room and apartment on campus.

Key Features and Benefits

Currently, all dorms and apartments have enough Ethernet ports for every student. However, due to the increased speed and reliability of our wireless network, these Ethernet ports are rarely used.

In order to use College resources effectively, we will deactivate some of those underutilized Ethernet ports.

Impact on College Community

On July 12, we will deactivate at least one Ethernet port in each bedroom or dorm room. Two and three person rooms will have one active port, and four person rooms will have two active ports.

If your room or apartment needs an additional active Ethernet port, please contact us, and we can reactivate the port.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at ait.service.desk@wheaton.edu or call 630.752.4357 (HELP).
