The Office of Marketing Communications is a professional unit consisting of experts in marketing, storytelling, and branding with key skills in technology, design, and communications. MarComm (as we are known) is responsible for promoting Wheaton College through communications and ensuring that all of the College's external communications are of the highest quality and consistency.
We serve a number of functions, including:
We create communications that serve as the public voice of the College. We have primary responsibility for all institutional interactions with the media, and we help establish Wheaton's media communication and public information priorities, processes, and procedures.
We use the written word, images, and video share information and narratives that inspire interest in and promote the College among external audiences and that support marketing initiatives.
We conduct research and create strategies, communications, and marketing/advertising materials to inspire people to action—enroll at Wheaton, refer someone to enroll at Wheaton, or donate to Wheaton. Through integrated campaigns, media placements, paid advertising, and more, we help Wheaton create and implement strategies to deliver the Wheaton story to its target audiences. We work with partners across the College to achieve a strategic communications approach that is coherent and accountable and serving the College's core business goals.
We conduct research and we create strategies to develop, protect, and promote the College brand, and we implement those strategies in partnership with College leadership and marketers.
With an average of 1,300 design projects per year, we ensure that all materials produced with the Wheaton College name represent the brand consistently, resulting in a unified, professional appearance. We can help you to create and produce all print collateral. All print pieces for audiences who are not current faculty, staff, or students—that is, any pieces for external audiences—must be designed or approved by the Office of Marketing Communications.
With an average of 100,000 unique visitors each month, from more than 150 countries, Wheaton's website is the first point of contact with the College for many individuals. While more than 130 staff and faculty edit content on the site, we oversee web design, functionality, training, governance, and major projects.
We create marketing and advertising strategies for social media channels—including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn—and we oversee the implementation of the strategies and publishing.
