Reporting to the Director of Marketing Communications, the Director of Web and Graphic Design oversees the technical aspects of wheaton.edu as well as web governance, user training and support, content management and development, and the web content management system, TerminalFour. Rebecca also provides art direction and oversees the Graphic Design department.
Born and raised in the midwest, Rebecca first came to Wheaton in 1994 for her freshman year as a Wheaton College undergrad. In '98 she graduated with a B.A. in English and Sociology. Shortly after graduation, she decided she did not indeed want to pursue a career in social work as she thought she did, and so set her sights on publishing.
In 1999 she started working at InterVarsity Press as a creative services specialist, where she learned everything she could about marketing, copywriting, design, and the publishing process. After managing the creative services team for five years, she transitioned into a graphic design role, designing print catalogs, advertisements, and book covers. Eventually, Rebecca started taking classes in HTML and CSS and transitioned again into the role of Web Editor and Social Media Manager.
After 13 years at IVP, in 2012 Rebecca moved on to Adventist Midwest Health (now Amita Health) where she managed the websites for four major Chicagoland hospitals. Although she had only been in this position for a year, she heard about another position open at her alma mater, and couldn't pass it up. So in 2013, she returned to Wheaton as the Director of Web Communications.
Rebecca likes to think of her career journey as a classic liberal arts story. When she was a student at Wheaton, the internet and email were just in their infancy. And now she's built a solid career in a field that wasn't even something she could have chosen to study if she wanted to. Nevertheless, the liberal arts education she received at Wheaton prepared her well for a future she could not have imagined.
In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys reading, traveling, singing, writing, dabbling in graphic design and other creative side projects, and hanging out with her husband and son.
