Proofpoint PhishAlarm will be added to Outlook on October 2

In our ongoing effort to improve our defenses against email-borne threats, we are deploying Proofpoint's PhishAlarm function to Outlook on October 2nd. This adds a “Report Phish” button to the Outlook “Home” ribbon which will appear automatically and cannot be removed.

The purpose of the add-on is to give you a simple way to report to Proofpoint any suspected phishing scam emails that Proofpoint failed to block which were consequently delivered to your inbox. This triggers a process to re-analyze the message and moves it automatically to your junk folder.  If Proofpoint determines the message is a phishing scam, it will remove the offending message and prevent any future attempts to deliver it to others.

To report a suspected phishing scam in Outlook, highlight the message, then click on the “Report Phish” button.
