Clinical Training for Psychology, Counseling, and Family Therapy

Clinical Training

As a student in the School of Psychology, Counseling, and Family Therapy, you are not only going to be pushed academically, but you have the opportunity to step outside the academic realm and get hands-on experience with the populations you are interested in serving. Moreover, since we are just a train ride away from Chicago, you will have amazing opportunities to work in urban settings, serving a diverse group of patients while wrestling with those experiences within a supportive academic community.

The School of PCFT Clinical Training resources provide students support in the search for practicum and internship experiences that fit their professional goals and interests. A wide variety of clinical settings welcome applicants from Wheaton College, including outpatient practices, medical centers and hospitals, Veterans Affairs medical centers, church counseling centers, community mental health centers, inpatient treatment facilities and university counseling centers.

At Wheaton, your clinical training will shape you to become a competent professional who models a commitment to professional practice as service along with a balanced approach to spiritual, personal, professional, and interpersonal growth and development. Our goal is to produce graduates who will be distinctive as Christians in their practice of professional counseling, marital and family therapy, and clinical psychology.
