I grew up in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/Saint Paul, Minnesota). I have been working as a professional chef since 1992. I received a degree in Culinary Arts at Johnson and Wales University in 1995. My experiences in food service include camps, hotels, country clubs, restaurants, resorts, and ownership of two restaurants. I’ve had the pleasure of working in a wide variety of places, including Minnesota, South Carolina, Tennessee, South Dakota, Iowa, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Tanzania (East Africa). My wife Polly and I have four kids and two grandchildren. Polly is a first-grade teacher in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, and we reside in Three Lakes.

My professional chef career merged with Christian ministry in 2006 when I began pursuing mission work in Tanzania and again in 2014 when I began working in disaster relief in Virginia. During those experiences and here at HoneyRock, I’ve found it to be a blessing to work in ministry while being able to realize my passions as a chef.

At HoneyRock, we work hard to nurture a learning environment while providing high-quality, consistent food services to staff, guests, campers, and students. I am thankful to be a part of HoneyRock’s programs for emerging adults, students, and campers!
