Fulbright Scholarship

 

  • Applicants must be citizens of the U.S. at the time of application.
  • Preference is given to applicants educated primarily in the U.S. who have demonstrated experience with community service and cross-cultural interactions. (Candidates should have no more than 6 months experience in the country to which they are applying since they enrolled in college).
  • Language requirements differ with each country. Check the Fulbright website.

Applicants must have earned their bachelors’ degree before beginning of grant. Students entering their senior year or recently graduated are encouraged to apply, but students must make their intentions know to the Wheaton FPA a the end of the Junior year (see below). Wheaton Masters and Ph.D. students are also eligible.

Application:

  • All students currently enrolled at Wheaton College must apply through Wheaton College. Alums who are not enrolled as students are generally able to apply through Wheaton if they inform the Wheaton FPA at least several months in advance and are approved by the FPA.
  • The Wheaton Fulbright (FPA) advisor is Dr. Pam Barger.

  • The application process opens in the Spring.
  • If you intend to apply, you must contact Dr. Barger by April 1st.
  • Talk with Dr. Barger about the feasibility of appropriate references and contact potential letter writers during the summer. Letters of recommendation will be due by the Wheaton deadline in mid-August.
  • Letters of affiliation and any required documentation of language abilities should also be received by the date of the Wheaton deadline.
  • Online applications including references, language assessment documentation, and letter of affiliation (as appropriate) must be submitted through the on-line Embark application portal for Dr. Montgomery's review by the date of the Wheaton deadline.
  • 30 to 45 minute Campus interviews will be held in September and/or, early October. 
  • You will be assigned a time and are expected to attend during that time slot.
  • Final revisions to the application must be submitted no later than the week prior to the national deadline. Dr. Barger will confirm particular dates each year.
  • Dr. Barger will submit the campus Committee Evaluation form for all approved candidates; however, each candidate is responsible for submitting his/her completed application through the Embark application portal.
