Mathematics Learning Outcomes

As a result of completing the Mathematics program at Wheaton College, students will achieve the following learning outcomes:

  1. Core Knowledge. Students will demonstrate the ability to solve problems from core areas of mathematics such as calculus, linear algebra, statistics, analysis, and modern algebra.
  2. Proof Construction. Students will demonstrate the ability to construct cogent mathematical proofs.
  3. Mathematical Communication. Students will demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate mathematics in written and oral forms.
  4. Creative Problem Solving. Students will demonstrate the ability to use mathematics as a tool to solve problems from other disciplines.
  5. Christian Connection. Students will demonstrate the ability to identify interactions between mathematics and Christian faith.
  6. Computation. Students will demonstrate the ability to the ability to apply computational tools to complex mathematical problems.
