Biblical and Theological Studies Learning Outcomes

As a result of completing the Biblical and Theological Studies program at Wheaton College, students will achieve the following learning outcomes:

  1. Students will be able to interpret biblical texts responsibly in light of their original historical settings, the entire canon, and the history of biblical interpretation in diverse domestic and global contexts.
  2. Students will be able to interpret theological sources across the history of the church in light of Christian orthodoxy and the contemporary church, especially local and global expressions of evangelism.
  3. Students will be able to analyze different exegetical and theological positions, as well as diverse Christian traditions and practices, with charity and conviction.
  4. Students will be able to exercise biblical and theological discernment as they engage ethical questions faced by persons, the church, and societies worldwide.
