Dr. Karen An-Hwei LeeDr. Karen An-hwei Lee was appointed Provost in August 2020. She reports to the President, leads the Senior Academic Leadership Team (SALT), serves on the Senior Administrative Cabinet (SAC), and oversees all aspects of the academic division including—in addition to the faculty—academic records and services, centers and institutes, global programs and studies, institutional research, library and archives, intercultural engagement, and military science. Dr. Lee holds the faculty rank of Professor of English.

An accomplished poet, fiction writer, literary critic, and translator, Dr. Lee is a voting member of the National Book Critics Circle and a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Individual Artist’s Grant.

Dr. Lee earned her B.A. Magna Cum Laude in English from Brown University. She received an M.F.A. in fiction writing from Brown and an M.A. in English (poetry writing) from the University of California, Berkeley. She earned her Ph.D. in English from the University of California, Berkeley.
