German Club (Der Deutsch Verein)

German and American FlagsWho We Are

The Wheaton College German Club, known as Der Deutsch Verein, is run by faculty and students within the Modern and Classical Languages department. It is designed to promote understanding and excitement for the German language and culture among members of the College community. The club welcomes anyone with experiences abroad in Germany, as well as speakers of all levels to join in the discussions and activities held by the club. The German club provides extra-curricular opportunities to practice the language at weekly Stammtisch (dinner together in Anderson Commons) and Kaffeestunde. Other events typically include Kinoabend (film night), lectures and excursions into the city of Chicago and the surrounding area to take place in German cultural celebrations, such as Christkindlmarkt.
