Master of Arts in Teaching

Why Pursue a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)

Through the MAT program at Wheaton College, candidates may earn an Illinois teaching license and a Master degree in Elementary or Secondary Education. Candidates will gain great depth in pedagogy and scholarship and integration of faith and learning. These programs are for those seeking an initial teaching license.

Two Tracks of the MAT

There are two tracks for pursuing the Masters of Arts in Teaching. The first one, the Accelerated MAT, is for current undergraduate Wheaton College students. The second track, the General MAT, is for those who already hold a bachelor’s degree (from Wheaton College or another institution).
