About Karen Riley
After graduating from Wheaton College with a degree in Sociology, I stayed in the city of Wheaton and found a temporary job as manager of a small, but expanding, retail gift shop. This was a difficult time in my life as I struggled to find the place God wanted for me in this world. He taught me patience as I watched and waited for His timing in my life and career. And He was faithful!
After four long years (at my “temporary” job), I was offered a position as office and account manager for a marketing and strategic planning organization, working primarily with Christian organizations. It was there I enjoyed a rich career and working partnership with many Christian coworkers and clients. After nine years, I sensed I needed a change and the Lord placed me in a wonderful Christian radio ministry as Promotional Director.
During this time of my employment, I met my wonderful husband, Robert (also a Wheaton grad!), and we eventually had two children, Kevin and Emma. After the birth of our children, I enjoyed many years as a stay-at-home mom volunteering in the public school system and serving in our church.
Although I enjoy the administrative aspect of my position, my greatest delight is my interaction with students. I love walking through life’s challenges and encouraging these young men and women in their pursuit of wisdom and knowledge and their walk with Jesus.
My life is full, as wife and mother, as I shepherd my own children through the teen years. In my spare time I enjoy reading, traveling with my family, and biking.
