Technology and Information Resources Subcommittee
The faculty voice for technology issues at Wheaton College.
The Technology and Information Resources (TIR) Subcommittee is part of faculty governance reporting to the faculty Academic Affairs standing committee. Informed by assessment and information gathering, the subcommittee will be the faculty voice for technological discovery, recommendations, implementation, and assessment on behalf of the faculty in accountability to the administration and the parent committee.
The Technology and Information Subcommittee will include:
- Eight faculty members - one from each division (Natural & Social Sciences; Humanities & Theological Studies; Art, Conservatory & Communication), two at-large members, and a library faculty member
- The director of Project Teacher
- A representative from RESCL
- The Chief Information Officer (CIO)
- One student representative chosen by Student Government
- Perform ongoing assessment of the technology needs and current practices of faculty and others involved in student learning and care.
- Facilitate discovery and sharing of effective and innovative uses of campus technology resources for teaching, student learning outcomes, and research.
- Monitor best practices in these areas at peer institutions.
- Engage in philosophical conversations regarding the relationships between technology, pedagogy, and the college’s mission.
Meetings are once a month during the academic year or as determined by the committee.
