September 2025

I welcome you to another Wheaton Wavelength, where we share some of our many exciting and joyful campus experiences with you.
Classes commenced this year on August 27, and we were thrilled to welcome a full class of freshmen, transfers, and graduate students, as well as returning students. Please read the annual Year Preview that I sent to faculty and staff the day before classes started. It will show you how deeply and prayerfully we have anticipated another vibrant year of preparing our students for a life of service to Christ and His Kingdom.
Below you will see examples of recent travels, which we undertake to connect with other Christians, to encourage students to pursue a Christ-centered education at Wheaton to explore educational innovations while adhering closely to our more than 165-year tradition of world-class Christian liberal arts education.
May your autumn be as divinely blessed as ours promises to be.
In Christ’s service,

Philip G. Ryken
President
Journeys to Kenya and Uganda
This summer, I visited Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya and spoke at Uganda Christian University’s 26th Graduation Ceremony as the Guest of Honor. I came away deeply encouraged by the leadership of our East African partners. Here is a link to some of the photos we placed on social media.

Wheaton College Summer Institute
This summer Wheaton College was blessed to expand our community of Christian learners with 173 high school students who joined us for two weeks with our annual Wheaton College Summer Institute. They explored the great works of God as seen in various academic disciplines and experiences in Christian community. We welcomed students from 35 states and 9 countries to the WCSI this summer, and the College welcomed 54 WCSI alumni to campus in fall semester as entering freshmen! Further, 14 WCSI alumni received Aequitas scholarships. We encourage you to watch this video of WCSI 2025.
Professor Matthew Milliner Welcomes New Students and their Parents
We encourage you to find a few minutes to watch Professor Matthew Milliner’s recent lecture on “Liberal Arts in the Age of AI.” You will be glad you did. Dr. Milliner energizes our parents and new students each year as he articulates our mission to incoming members of our community!

InnoHub
Wheaton College was excited this summer to announce the formal launch of InnoHub, a new on-campus initiative designed to expand Christ-centered entrepreneurial engagement and provide students with faith-integrated, real-world business experience through structured, project-based learning. This investment underscores Wheaton College’s deep commitment to cultivating career-ready graduates, igniting creativity, and championing transformative student-led ventures grounded in the confidence of a Christian faith.
Faithfully Forward: An Evening of Music and Mission
We warmly invite you to an inspiring evening of music, mission, and celebration during Homecoming Weekend 2025. This special event will include a live performance by acclaimed Christian artist TAYA, along with vocalists from Wheaton’s own Chapel Worship Band. Together, we will celebrate a bold new chapter in Wheaton’s story with worship, fellowship, and gratitude. Learn more.
Chapel Message
Finally, we close with a chapel message from Billy Graham Scholar Emmanuel Kwizera M.A. '23, who spoke to our students on February 5 about “Water from the Rock” (Numbers 20:7-11). May the words of this African evangelist inspire you as they did our students, who were fortunate to hear his message.
