Paul Chelsen, Ph.D.

In January 2009, Dr. Chelsen was appointed Wheaton’s third Vice President for Student Development (since 1969). Prior to this appointment, he served for 10 years in Wheaton’s Student Development Division as the Director of Residence Life. Prior to his work at Wheaton, Paul served in various Student Development roles at Ball State University, Coe College, North Central College (IL), and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Asking questions and listening is important to Paul. He is a collaborative problem solver.
College was an important time of growth and development for Paul. He is excited about investing in the growth and development of today’s generation of Wheaton students.
Paul’s strengths are: Responsibility, Connectedness, Restorative, Developer, and Empathy. Paul is process- and people-oriented, with a passion for fostering a learning environment outside the classroom in partnership with Wheaton College Faculty.

Glynise Strating

Administrative Assistant

Glynise has worked at Wheaton College for over 20 years. She served in the academic sector of the College as the Philosophy Department and Interdisciplinary Studies Program Office Coordinator prior to moving over into the Student Development area 8+ years ago.

In addition to working with and providing ongoing support for her Wheaton colleagues, Glynise enjoys spending time outdoors with friends and family—running, cycling, hiking and traveling.

Amy Newell

Office Coordinator

Amy enjoys serving through managing administrative tasks to support her team in Student Development. She believes God supplies the breadth of our unique gifts for a reason and that He designed us to bring our uniqueness together in beautiful, life-affirming patterns to experience Him more fully.

Amy loves movie scores, tea, and knitting. She seeks to appreciate beauty in nature, especially while cycling along the Fox River Bike Trails on weekends.
