Biography
Violinist Injoo Choi performs actively with the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. On numerous occasions, she has been on Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s European and Asian concert tours and has also served as a performing member of the Chicago Philharmonic Society. During the summer seasons, Choi performs at the Grant Park Music Festival.
Choi’s chamber performances have taken her to Central America and Canada. In Chicago, her chamber music performances include the CSO Chamber Music Series, the Chicago Phil Chamber Series, the Pilgrim Chamber Players, the Corde Volanti Chamber Ensemble and Chicago Symphony’s MusicNow. Her performances have been heard on NPR’s Performance Today.
In addition to her demanding performance schedule, Choi is profoundly committed to nurturing her students. As a dedicated teacher, she is a faculty member at the Academy of the Music Institute of Chicago.
Choi received her Bachelor of Music degree at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and a Master of Music from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. Her teachers include Sylvia Rosenberg, Josef Gingold, Miriam Fried, Yuval Yaron, and Myron Kartman.
Ms. Choi has been engaged at Wheaton College to teach violin lessons, coach and mentor students, and support the work of the Wheaton College Symphony Orchestra.
