Jasimine Ash
Ph.D. Student
My passion for psychology is rooted in a desire to understand how adversity shapes identity and resilience, particularly within African American and other marginalized communities. I am committed to exploring trauma-informed care, substance use disorders, community and forensic psychology, and culturally responsive interventions. A central focus of my research is early parentification and its long-term impact on emotional development. I believe that mental health care should address the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Integrating faith into clinical practice is essential to my vision, as I see spirituality as a powerful source of healing and hope. Through doctoral training, I aim to bridge research and practice by creating interventions that honor cultural and spiritual values, empowering individuals to thrive despite systemic challenges.
