ILMEA Audition Clinic – Brass, Woodwinds, & Percussion
The Wheaton College Conservatory of Music invites brass, woodwind, and percussion students to a focused audition preparation clinic designed to help you succeed at the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) auditions.
Led by our world-class faculty, this clinic offers:
- Audition Insights – Learn what to expect on audition day, from warm-up routines to room etiquette, so you feel prepared and confident.
- Excerpts & Repertoire Coaching – Receive targeted feedback on this year’s required ILMEA materials, with faculty guidance on style, phrasing, and accuracy.
- Technique Development – Strengthen your tone, intonation, articulation, and rhythm through focused exercises tailored for wind, brass, and percussion instruments.
- Scales & Sight-Reading Strategies – Build consistency and confidence in these core audition components with proven practice methods.
- Mock Auditions – Gain valuable experience performing in a simulated audition setting with constructive, personalized feedback.
This clinic is designed not only to prepare you for a strong audition but also to equip you with lasting musicianship skills that will benefit your ensemble playing, private study, and future musical opportunities.
SCHEDULE
Saturday, September 6th from 12:00-3:30 PM
- 1:30-1:45 PM – Student check in
- 1:45-2:00 – Full group welcome and informational meeting
- 2:00-2:30 – Guided warm-up/tone/technique building with Wheaton music faculty
- 2:30-3:30 – Detail work on audition excerpts with Wheaton Music faculty

Students can sign up themselves, or an ensemble director/private teacher can sign up groups of students.
