Collection 499: Kevin C. Stabler Oral History Interviews (NEW)

The two interviews with Stabler (MA ’94) include his first-hand account of various aspects of his life and ministry as a missionary in Bolivia with Youth with a Mission (YWAM). Documented in the 3.4 hours of recording are: his family, conversion, spiritual growth, call to missions, evangelism as a college student, training by and work with Youth with a Mission (YWAM), evangelistic activities, YWAM's characteristics (administrative structure, financial philosophy, orientation of new workers, evangelism, discipleship and church planting in Bolivia), worship services in Bolivia, evangelicalism in Bolivia, training of national leadership, Bolivia's Catholic Church, syncretism, the relationship between church and state in Bolivia, and relations with his family. The time period covered by the interviews is 1961-1993. Links to the interview audio files are available on the web page. (Added June 2026).

Collection  738:  Leighton Ford Papers (NEW)

Leighton Ford’s papers tell the story of his career as an evangelist, preacher, and leadership developer and mentor. Documented in the extensive files are his thirty-year career as an evangelist with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, the founding of his Leighton Ford Ministries (LFM) with its focus on evangelism and leadership development, his leadership of the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization, and the Sandy Ford Fund that provided theological and ministry training scholarships in honor of his son Sandy. The Papers include many manuscripts for sermons and other public addresses or lectures, evangelistic crusade materials (both during and after his BGEA ministry), manuscripts for his articles and books, and seven oral history interview sessions with Ford in 2023 and 2025. Also included are moving image and sound recordings, photographs, and scrapbooks that further document the wide range of Ford's ministry.  (Added June 2026).

Collection 536:  Robert Coleman Papers (UPDATED)

Robert E. Coleman is an evangelist, teacher of evangelists (at the seminary level and conference level), author and a close friend and advisor for many years of Billy Graham and formerly director of the International Billy Graham Schools of Evangelism. In 2010, the Evangelism & Missions Archives opened 99 boxes of his papers, as well as numerous audio and visual material, to researchers. The staff has now processed 16 additional boxes of documents and tapes received from Dr. Coleman that include correspondence, manuscripts, sermons and documentation of his many speaking engagement around the world. Besides his own life and ministry, the materials are a rich source for American Evangelicalism influence in the United States and the world and as well as for the contemporary theology of evangelism and for modern evangelistic preaching. The time period for the new material covers the years from 1953 to 2019. The time period for the entire collection is 1936-2019.  (Added June 2026).

Collection 338: World Evangelical Alliance Records (UPDATED)

In1994, the Evangelism & Missions Archives opened Collection 338, the official archives of the World Evangelical Alliance (the World Evangelical Fellowship before 2001). In most countries of the world there is a national association of Evangelical Protestant churches, ministries and individuals. The WEA is an international association of all these national associations. In April 2026, the Archives staff added 246 more boxes of material to the collection, more than tripling its size (174 linear feet of shelving). In addition, hundreds of audio and videotapes were added to the collection. These are all materials received by the Archives from the WEA over the last three decades. They tell the story of Evangelical Protestant Christianity in dozens of nations during the 20^th and 21^st centuries. The holdings of the WEA’s Theological Commission and Women’s Commission are particularly rich. There are also full records of the triannual meetings of the WEA, which brought together Christian workers from around the globe. (Added April 2026).

Collection 420: Timothy and Barbara Friberg Papers (NEW)

Timothy and Barbara Friberg papers include letters, autobiographical manuscripts, and materials relating to the language and culture of the Konjo people of Sulawesi Selatan, Indonesia. These documents primarily describe the translation work of the Fribergs in their work with the Summer Institute of Linguistics (Wycliffe Bible Translators) in Vietnam, Cambodia (1969-1975), and especially in Indonesia with the Summer Institute of Linguistics (1982-1993) and Frontiers organizations (1994-2025). The life and ministry of the Indonesian Christian worker Hamoeriani (also called Hamo' or Esther) is also documented. (Added June 2025).

Collection 661: Records of Eastern European Mission (NEW)

Records of Eastern European Mission (first known as the Russian and Eastern European Mission, then as Eastern European Mission, and finally as EuroVision) including minutes, financial records, correspondence, reports, scrapbooks, missionary files, and newspaper and magazine clippings. Most of the documents are in English, but there is also material in Russian, Polish, German and other languages. The activities of the mission included church planting, evangelism, radio broadcasting, the printing and distribution of Bibles and Christian literature, and humanitarian relief. Although the mission sent out many North American workers, most of it activities, especially after 1945, involved supporting indigenous Christian workers in the USSR and Eastern Europe. Collection 726: Gospel Films/Gospel Communications Oral History Interviews (NEW)

This collection consists of interviews with J. R. Whitby and Robby Richardson, executives of Gospel Films/Gospel Communications about the history of the company, the development of the Christian film industry and the Christian use of the Internet. (Added September 2024).

Since the early 1980s, members of the Archives staff have conducted over 800 hours of oral history interviews with more than 275 individuals involved in mass evangelism, global missions, Christian education, community development, medical work, and Bible translation. These figures include well-known names such as Cliff Barrows, Elisabeth Elliot, David Howard, John Huffman, William Pannell, John Perkins, and many more. To date, the Archives staff have completed over 430 transcripts to these interviews. Follow the links below to read our latest oral history transcripts.

Please note: Oral history interview transcripts are not available online during the interviewee's lifetime.
