The Batson Shakespeare Society sponsors a variety of activities on campus, including panels, exhibits, lectures, performances, and readings. Details about upcoming events are below. These events are open to the public and welcome all Shakespeare enthusiasts. Upcoming Schedule of Activities
Spring 2026
- Shakespeare Movie Night. Join the E. Beatrice Batson Shakespeare Society for a screening of the 2006 adaptation of William Shakespeare's As You Like It, directed by Kenneth Branagh! Members of the community are welcome to attend. Wheaton students who register with their my.wheaton.edu email and attend the film viewing will be entered into a drawing for a Shakespeare door prize. Movie snacks will be provided!
- E. Beatrice Batson Shakespeare Lecture. On Wednesday, March 25 at 7:00 pm, Dr. Grace Tiffany will present the fifth annual Batson Lecture, entitled "Shakespeare Turns the Parables Inside Out." This event is open to the public and will be held in the Bakke Auditorium at the Marion E. Wade Center.
- E. Beatrice Batson Essay Contest. The Biennial Shakespeare essay contest returns in 2026! First place submissions will be published in Wheaton Writing and award winners will receive $500.00. See the Batson Essay Contest page for more information and submission guidelines. Submission deadline is Monday, May 4 at 11:59pm.
