Gratitude, Lament and Joy.  A Jazz Conversation

CACE is pleased to offer this unique opportunity for music and dialogue about important dimensions of the African-American experience through the medium of jazz. Ruth Naomi Floyd is a gifted vocalist-composer who has been at the forefront of creating vocal jazz settings that express Christian theology for over 22 years and who leads a multifaceted ensemble; she has a discography praised for its distinctive sound. John Patitucci is a renown bassist, educator and composer who has recorded and performed with numerous artists in genres as diverse as soul, gospel, blues, jazz and classical music and currently is part of the Wayne Shorter Quartet as well as his own ensembles. Ruth and John will share their journey through this unique musical event Gratitude, Lament and Joy.
