Spring 2021 Online Parent Orientation

Aerial shot of campus in the fall

Welcome new parents!

The information shared on these pages will help you and your student plan and prepare for a successful transition to Wheaton this spring.

Spring 2021 Parent Orientation will be completely online, as was Fall 2020 Parent Orientation. The video sessions below are recordings from fall 2020.

What will campus look like this spring?

If you're wondering what campus life will be like this spring, we invite you to watch the COVID-Safe, Thunder-Strong (re)Orientation Course. This course includes tutorials developed for students coming to campus this spring. Each tutorial will help you visualize how students will experience life together as safely as possible and what commitments students have been asked to make to each other and to every member of the Wheaton community.

Watch the COVID-Safe Thunder-Strong tutorials

Students should not take the course on this website. Instead, students need to log in to Schoology (lms.wheaton.edu) and look for the COVID-Safe, Thunder-Strong (re)Orientation course in their course dashboard. Progress will be recorded within the Schoology course.

Parent Town Halls

Parents had the opportunity to attend virtual Parent Town Hall Meetings with President Ryken and senior leadership during the fall semester. These online events provided an opportunity for parents to hear updates from the College and to ask questions about fall 2020. Although some content is out of date (i.e. COVID testing protocols) much is still applicable to spring 2021.

Session 1: View recorded event from the July 30th session.

Session 2: View recorded event from the August 17 session.

Session 3: View recorded event from September 17 session.

Student Drop Off

Families need to take the stop, drop and go approach if they are bringing their student(s) to campus this spring. Parents and non-Wheaton students will not be allowed in student housing or any other campus buildings.

When students arrive on campus the first thing they will do is go to the Chrouser Sports Complex to take a COVID test and to receive their COVID-Safe, Thunder-Strong wristband. Once the test is complete students can move into their campus housing.

Please follow these three steps when dropping your student off at their campus housing:

  1. Pull up to the curb of your student's residence.
  2. Help unload their belongings (please wear a facemask) and meet the fabulous Thundermovers (student volunteers) who will help get your student's luggage into their room and help them settle in.
  3. Share one last hug and say farewell.
