Dear New/Transfer Parents,

Orientation is just a couple of weeks away, and I write to invite you to take part in two special activities. When you arrive on campus, please drop by one of our Parent Welcome Tents on Thursday or Friday, August 19-20 (located outside the two new student residence halls), where we will give you a special journal to give to your student before you say goodbye. Start thinking now about what you would like to write in the front of the journal, be it a personal blessing of encouragement, or scripture passage, or prayer, for your student.

After the morning Orientation session on Saturday, August 21, we will make time for you to give your student this journal with your handwritten notes.

Have a look at this short video from President and Mrs. Ryken:

We understand that many parents can’t come to campus for Orientation, so if that’s the case for you, please send your word of encouragement, scripture passage, or written prayer to parents@wheaton.edu and we will print it out and include it in your student’s journal (please include your name and your student's name). A group of faculty/staff spouses has offered to pray with students whose parents aren’t with them and they will give your child a journal with your personal note included.

Secondly, we warmly invite your family to attend the Orientation Family Picnic on Saturday, August 21 where you will have the opportunity to share a meal with your student and meet other parents and new students. The picnic is complimentary, but to help us with our planning, please register your family’s attendance.

Please Register by Thursday, August 12

After the picnic, students will leave for their Orientation activity and parents are invited to join us for a short parent-only final session with President Ryken.

Campus is buzzing with activity as we prepare to greet you and your student. It won’t be long now!

Sincerely,
