International Travel Clinic

The mission of the International Travel Clinic is to educate students on how to live healthy while living and studying internationally.

Traveling to different countries can be exciting. However, when you travel, whether it be to a tropical or less exotic country or to a developing or industrial country, you may be exposed to new air and water quality, food, illnesses, or even safety issues. Some countries have diseases that are easily preventable by vaccines, a good filter, proper food selection and awareness of your surroundings. The International Travel Clinic's goal is to keep you healthy while you travel and ensure that you leave your international community healthy and safe as well.

At the International Travel Clinic (ITC), we offer the following services:

For personal and individualized travel consultation with trained medical professionals for active Wheaton College students traveling with a Wheaton College trip. The consultation includes a detailed review of the location, activities, available resources and the individual physical and mental health needs of the student. The ITC is staffed by nurses trained in travel health and utilizes the Travax Travel Medicine Program to inform and update students about health and travel conditions including immunizations during a consultation. The consult reviews and assesses the need for: medications needed for the travel experience, as well as immunizations, food and water safety, climate, insects or animals to avoid, prevalent diseases, personal safety, blood borne pathogen training and also the political environment of the countries being visited. Appointments can be made by calling 630.752.5072.
