Orientation 2020 Arrival Dates
Wheaton is closely monitoring the global COVID-19 pandemic and is currently exploring how our orientation programs may need to shift to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved. If anything below changes, we’ll update this site as well as send personal communication to all new students and their parents.
New students may move into their residence halls on Wednesday, August 19 between 4-8pm or Thursday, August 20 between 9am-5pm. When arriving on campus, First Year students living in Fischer or Smith-Traber will check in at the tent at their residence hall and Transfers check in at the tent on the north side of the Welcome Center, 301 N. Chase St. Students have been sent a Bookings link with their housing assignment email where they should sign up for a specific move in time. This will spread out the arrivals to campus and allow our Thunder Move-in team to personally assist each student.
Due to breakout programming, the following students may move in on Wednesday, August 19 between noon-5pm:
- International students (F-1 Visa/MK/TCK)
- Music majors
- First Generation college students
- ROTC students
Upon arrival, new students will stop at the tent at your residence to show a copy of your negative COVID test and course completion of the COVID-Safe Schoology Orientation course on your phone. You'll be greeted by the Thunder Move-in team of upperclass students who will eagerly empty your car and transfer your belongings to your room. Thunder Movers will help students settle in, answer questions, offer directions, and even help make your bed!
Student Drop Off will encourage parents to Stop, Drop and Go.
- Stop somewhere on the way to campus to say your goodbyes.
- Drop and unload items from your packed car (check out the Lean and Light packing list).
- Go - Once the car is unloaded, time for the final hug farewell.
