Livestreamed from Edman Chapel, 7:30 pm
This exciting collaboration is best described by Jason Olaine of Jazz at Lincoln Center:
The pairing of Harlem Quartet with bassist/composer/arranger John Patitucci was pure genius, yielding sumptuous musical results. Harlem Quartet are truly spellbinding – they have incredible technique, uncanny pitch and flawlessly phrase as a cohesive unit – more like an organism. And Mr. Patitucci has been at the top of his game for decades… On this particular evening the music John wrote and arranged was well-suited for this Jazz meets Classical collaboration -- it clearly was difficult and challenging for the musicians, but musically satisfying to the ear – melodic, nuanced, dynamic, surprising, at times energetic and others plaintive. This would be a concert I would return to again and again. Bravo!
