Ballet 5:8 performs The Space in Between
Based on C.S. Lewis' The Great Divorce
Friday, November 1, 2019
Edman Chapel, 7:30 pm
Julianna Rubio Slager’s The Space in Between brings the novel The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis to life. The dancers tell this thought-provoking story of passengers on a bus ride between heaven and hell. Through colorful costuming and masterful athleticism, this ballet enchants the eye and mind with the possibilities in the afterlife.
Also on the program is Slager's Meditations, inspired by C.S. Lewis' essay "Meditation in a Toolshed", and Of Splendors and Horrors, inspired by C.S. Lewis' The Weight of Glory.
Join us for a special lecture, "Exploring C.S. Lewis' The Great Divorce" by David C. Downing, at 4:00 in the Wade Center's Bakke Auditorium. There will also be the regular pre-concert program Grace Notes at 6:30 pm.
Every so often, Ballet 5:8 ventures into Chicago, sharing what might be the suburbs' best kept dance secret. But it won't be long until Ballet 5:8 is a secret to no one.— SeeChicagoDance.com
