Check-In and Pick-Up Information

We’re excitedly counting down until your campers arrive!

Here are the big highlights for both check-in locations.

  • You must have your completed pre-screening health form at check-in.
  • Only your camper will get out of the car at check-in.
  • If applicable: keep your camper’s medication separate from their luggage.

Keep reading for more details about the Wheaton and HoneyRock check-in locations!

Wheaton College Check-In Location

Before you arrive, give your camper a big hug! Once you start the check-in process, you will not be able to get out of your car.

If you have questions about your camper’s time at HoneyRock, we encourage you to review our Q&A and ask questions ahead of time so that we can keep check-in moving.

Please come at the time designated by your camper’s last name:

  • Residential Camp
    • 7 – 7:20 – A to G
    • 7:20-7:40 – H to O
    • 7:40-8:00 – P to Z
  • EPIC
    • 9-9:20 – A to G
    • 9:20-9:40 – H to O
    • 9:40-10:00 – P to Z

Please enter check-in at the intersection of Howard Street and University Place. Proceed into Wheaton's campus, making a right-hand turn onto Chase Street where you will see Station 1.

  1. Station One | Check-In in front of Chrouser Sports Complex/Chrouser Natatorium
    • Health Form & Temperature Check – Remember, if there is no health form or your camper’s temperature is above 100.4, your camper will not be allowed to come to HoneyRock.
    • EpiPen Check—If your camper has an EpiPen, we will check it in here (instead of Station Three) so that they can carry it with them on the bus.
    • Lunch Order, Cabin Assignment, and Cloth Face Covering—We'll share this info with you and give your camper a cloth face covering that they will wear on the bus and keep with them for the duration of their time at HoneyRock.

  2. Station Two | Drop Off beside your camper’s coach bus.
You’ll proceed from station one to station two and park parallel to your camper’s bus. Which one is their bus? Check their cloth face covering—their bus will have the same color displayed. If you have multiple campers, stop at the first color you see that applies to you.
    • Camper Drop-Off – One of our staff will walk your camper to their bus, where their bus monitor will be waiting to welcome them into the bus and help them get settled.
    • Luggage Loading – Our team will be ready to tag your bags and unload your vehicle for you.

If you do not have medication to check-in, you’re done! To help with traffic flow, we ask that you leave campus after completing station two.

  1. Station Three | Med Check in the parking lot immediately after busses.
If you have medication(s) to check in, proceed to the parking lot immediately to the right after the busses. Park there and wait for our nurses to come and check in medication. Once this step is complete, you are free to leave.

The busses may depart before all medication is checked in. This is okay! If this is the case, the medication will ride in a separate vehicle and will be delivered directly to our Health Center.

How long is check-in going to take at Wheaton?
We anticipate it taking around 90 minutes for the entire check-in process. We have doubled the number of our staff who will be present and have worked to create a streamlined and safe system.

Do I need to be there the whole time?
No! In fact, we hope that after you complete Station Two (unless you need to check medication at Station Three) you can leave the area so that we can keep traffic flowing through check-in. If you want to stay, we ask that you park away from our main check-in area and remain in your car.

What address should I put in my navigation to get me to Howard and University Place?
If you enter the address 421 N Chase St, Wheaton, IL 60187 it will take you to the intersection of Howard and University. Instead of turning left into Coray Alumni Gymnasium, you’ll see station one and turn right.

How will campers be split into busses?
Campers will be in their unit’s bus. Unfortunately, if siblings are in a different unit, we cannot allow them to sit with one another bus. Units are determined by a camper's age and gender.

My camper is nervous about going to camp and I anticipate drop-off being difficult for them, especially since I can’t help them get settled on the bus or give them a hug right before they leave. How are you going to help with that?
We’re preparing our staff to be aware and ready to respond. Your camper will be walked to the bus by one of our staff members where they will meet one of their bus monitors. Their monitor will stay in the bus for the duration of check-in and will help your camper get settled—find a seat, put a pillow or backpack in the overhead storage area, introduce them to their seat buddy, etc…

What will my camper do on the bus while they’re waiting for everyone to be checked in?
Once 20 or so campers are on each bus, we will start a movie. We can’t guarantee what will be playing, but past examples are Frozen, Incredibles, Ice Age, and other animated Disney/Pixar movies.

Why can’t I get out of the car?
Restore Illinois Phase 4 mandates that in-person gatherings should be less than 50 people.

For Residential Camp, we are checking in about 200 campers (split into busses of less than 50). For EPIC, around 100 campers. Our campers, plus the staff team who is facilitating check-in, will need to move freely. Thus, we must ask parents, guardians, and siblings to stay in the car for the duration of check-in.

What if I forgot the new pre-screening form at home?
You will need to have the pre-screening form with you at check-in. If you do not, your camper will not be able to attend camp.

Can I show a photo of the new pre-screening form instead of turning in a hard copy?
No. We must have a hard copy of your camper’s pre-screening form. Every camper, even siblings, must have their own form.

HoneyRock Check-In Location

Before you arrive, give your camper a big hug! Once you start the check-in process, you will not be able to get out of your car.

If you have questions about your camper’s time at HoneyRock, we encourage you to review our Q&A and ask questions ahead of time.

Please arrive at HoneyRock at the time designated by your camper’s last name:

  • 2:00 – 2:45 for A-K
  • 2:45 – 3:30 for L-Z

At Check-In:

These locations are approximate, but we will have staff ready to direct you to the correct areas!

  1. Station One, In front of the HoneyRock Office
Here, we will collect your pre-screening health form and take your camper’s temperature. Remember, if there is no health form or your camper’s temperature is above 100.4, your camper will not be allowed to come to HoneyRock.
  2. Station Two, In front of the Health Center (behind Chrouser Dining Hall)
You’ll proceed from station one to station two and the Health Center will receive your medications. If you do not have medications to check in, you will be directed to Station Three.
  1. Station Three, Near the Climbing Wall
Your camper will meet their counselor or a luggage helper who will assist with unloading your car and getting your camper settled at their cabin.

How long is check-in going to take at HoneyRock?
When you get to Station One, we anticipate drop-off taking about 15-20 minutes from that point.

What address should I put in my navigation to get me to HoneyRock?
8660 Honey Rock Road, Three Lakes, WI 54562...unlike last year, there are no major construction projects underway that will require detours!

Will I get to meet my camper’s counselor?
We’re going to try our best to have your camper’s counselor be the one who greets and helps your camper with their luggage!

My camper is nervous about going to camp and I anticipate drop-off being difficult for them, especially since I can’t help them get settled in their cabin or give them a hug right before I leave. How are you going to help with that?

We’re preparing our staff to be aware and ready to respond. Your camper will be greeted by their counselor and/or a luggage helper who will help reassure them, get them settled into their cabin, and introduce them to their cabinmates.

What will my camper do while they’re waiting for everyone to be checked in?
Campers will spend time with their cabin leader getting settled in their cabin and playing games.

Will the Beehive be open?
No—the Beehive will not be open to parents.

Why can’t I get out of the car?
This is one of our primary methods of reducing the risk of COVID-19 entering or spreading at HoneyRock. By reducing the number of people on site, we’re helping mitigate the risk of COVID-19 at HoneyRock. Thank you for your partnership in this!

Do I need to wear a mask?
While not required, we prefer that you wear a mask or cloth face covering. Anyone who is interacting with you during check-in will be wearing a cloth face covering.

Here are the big three things to remember for Madison, Rockford, and Wheaton pick-ups.

  • Please wear a cloth face covering at pick-up. The bus monitors you will be talking with will be returning to HoneyRock to serve another session of campers.
  • You can get out of your car. Different than check-in, we’re asking that parents do get out of their car to help their camper carry luggage back to your car.
  • Remember your camper’s cohort color. You will go to your camper’s bus, marked by a color block, to pick up your camper.
    • 4-6th Grade Girls—Orange
    • 7-8th Grade Girls—Red
    • 4-6th Grade Boys—Green
    • 7-8th Grade Boys—Blue

For Madison and Rockford Stops:

We will arrive at our standard locations. Find the bus with your camper’s color block and be ready to give your camper a big hug! You’ll pick up your luggage from underneath the bus. After signing your camper out, you’re free to leave.

  • Madison: Culvers - 4910 Co RD V | De Forest, WI 53532
  • Rockford: AMC - 8301 E State St | Rockford, IL 61108

For the Wheaton College Stop:

There will be roadwork being completed near the HoneyRock bus pickup. We're sorry for the inconvenience!

As you're driving into the campus, please use either Harrison Street or Washington Street. This will help you avoid some on-campus road closures.

When you arrive, park in the long row of parking spaces between the tennis courts and the Student Health Services Building. The coach busses will pull into the South Fischer E Parking Lot.

Once the busses come to a full stop, you can approach the coach bus with your camper’s color displayed (it might take a moment for the bus monitor to tape the block on the bus!). Please keep social distancing guidelines in mind when approaching the busses and wear a cloth face covering when you’re within 6 feet of others.

When ready, the bus monitor will greet you and ask for your camper’s name. Your camper will be called off the bus, you’ll sign the release form, and then you can pick up your luggage!

Pick-up will begin at 8:30 am on the last day of your camper's session. When you arrive, you will check-in outside of the HoneyRock office. You'll be directed to the loading zone where your camper and their cabin leader will meet you. They'll help load your camper's luggage into the car and hand you their written recap of your camper's session.

Please stay in your car for the duration of the pickup! Unfortunately, the Beehive Camp Store will not be open to parents.
