"So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart." — 2 Timothy 2:22
2:22 at HoneyRock
Dates: July 1 - July 26, 2019 | Family Day July 25
For students entering 10th-12th grades
Are you ready for a Summer you will never forget? 2:22 is about living life to the fullest. It's a chance to make friendships that last, to build relationships where people know you. It's a chance to be a part of something that's real, to live in a community that meets you where you're coming from but also pushes you to be something more. It's about having counselors who want to be a part of your life, to go with you on the journey. And it's about plunging into an adventure that's going to be some of the most fun you've ever had.
We strongly encourage families to attend Family Day at the end of their camper's session. Getting to the Northwoods of Wisconsin can be a small trek - let us help! Find more information about best routes, lodging, and camper transportation from select cities.
Adventures make the best memories.
It could be baking pizza over the fire on your wilderness trip…having a really good one-on-one conversation with your counselor…plotting with your friends to do a ridiculous skit for the variety show…emerging victorious in the counselors vs. campers dodgeball game…staying up way too late because you and your cabin can’t stop laughing…hanging out around a fire under a night sky that’s bursting with stars…
HoneyRock prepares you for the greatest adventure of all.
Pursue righteousness. Pursue faith. Pursue love. Pursue peace. Pursue life with a purpose.
More than anything, in 2:22 we want you to experience Jesus Christ in a way that’s real, and powerful, and changes everything. Through quiet times and cabin discussions, large group worship and campfire devotions, living life together and serving others, we want to challenge you with what it means to follow Jesus.
Authentic Community: 2:22 begins with several days in camp orienting to the overall experience and getting to know your small group through team initiatives and intentional community building.
Wilderness Trips: This is followed by an 8-day wilderness trip in Wisconsin, Minnesota or the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Trips consist of hiking, canoeing, sea kayaking, or some combination of these activities.
Instructional Activity Areas: Upon returning to HoneyRock, 2:22 transitions into activity week, where you will get to work on advancing in the activity area awards, while also spending time with the entire 2:22 team.
Service Opportunities: The final week of 2:22 involves going out on service trips where you will be challenged to explore what it means to love and serve the people around you.
Spiritual Focus: The entire 2:22 progression is geared to bring you deeper in your relationship with Jesus Christ.
Most of our counselors are Wheaton College students who have previous HoneyRock experience. After an extensive application process, all counselors go through up to 6 weeks of intense training led by HoneyRock’s full-time professional staff and a variety of college professors who are experts in child development and working with youth. Our training model is the best possible preparation for students to become excellent counselors. During this time, counselors learn wilderness trip and Wilderness First Responder skills, become Red Cross certified in CPR/AED and Water Safety, and learn how to create Bible studies targeted for high school students.
Sleeping Bag Purchase Program
All participants in our high school programs are required to provide their own ‘wilderness style’ sleeping bag. We are no longer supplying sleeping bags for participants out of our trip locker. We are offering participants the option to purchase a new Marmot ‘Trestles’ sleeping bag for $75; this is $20 less than retail stores. We have chosen this bag because it is the ideal sleeping bag for use in all our high school programs. This fully synthetic, 30-degree rated sleeping bag is warm, versatile, durable and packs easily for use on wilderness trips and campouts. If you are interested in purchasing a sleeping bag please check the box on the registration form. Participants will receive their sleeping bag when they arrive at HoneyRock. Each bag will also have a HoneyRock nametag attached to the zipper pull so it can be easily identified.
