Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Development

Formerly known as the M.A. in Christian Formation and Ministry (CFM), the newly-revised M.A. in Higher Education and Student Development is a 36 credit-hour program which aligns with the professional guidelines of the Council for the Advancement of Standard in Higher Education (2001) for M.A. programs that prepare student development professionals.

All students must complete:

BITH 565 Christian Theology (4 credit hours)

HESD 521 Personal Spiritual Formation (2 credit hours)

HESD 546 Facilitating Collegiate Learning (2 credit hours)

HESD 549 Theology and Philosophy of Ministry (2 credit hours) 

HESD 575 Conflict and Mediation (4 credit hours)

HESD 595 Higher Education: Past, Present, and Future (4 credit hours)

HESD 602 Research and Reflective Practice (4 credit hours)

HESD 608 Well-Being in Young Adults (2 credit hours)

HESD 614 Diversity and Student Development (2 credit hours)

HESD 636 Leadership in Higher Education (2 credit hours)

HESD 639 Legal Issues in Higher Education (2 credit hours)

HESD 641 Emerging Adult Development (4 credit hours) 

HESD 696 Professional Practice and Portfolio: Capstone (2 credit hours) OR HESD 698 Thesis (2 credit hours)
