For Megan, writing is like "the time my roommates and I decided to make a gallery wall. We gathered pictures, flowers, mirrors, and frames and added them to a pile. In the long process that followed, we combined the items in different ways, threw out decorations that didn’t fit with the whole, and found new things to add until we had put together a cohesive display. Writing is a little like that. You gather all the feelings, experiences, and data you want to capture and put them in a pile. Then you start synthesizing ideas together and editing out pieces that don’t fit. And after this dynamic arranging, you have a composite that communicates something compelling."
