ESL Consultant

Annette has been teaching English to adult international students and immigrants in the Chicago area for nearly 20 years. She has taught beginning and advanced ESL classes at the College of DuPage (COD), Waubonsee Community College, Elgin Community College, and Literacy DuPage. In addition, she has tutored students in preparation for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), ELTiS (English Language Test for International Students), SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test), and GRE (Graduate Record Examinations). Prior to moving to Wheaton, Annette taught ESL at Tokyo Metropolitan Kokubunji High School and AP Psychology at the Christian Academy in Japan while serving as a missionary with Asian Access Life Ministries. Originally from Alberta, Canada, Annette was born into a German-speaking immigrant family and grew up in an English as a second language environment.

She earned her Bachelor of Education from the University of Lethbridge and completed coursework in the Master of Counseling program at the University of Kentucky, as well as coursework for the Bachelor of Religious Education through Taylor University in Edmonton, Alberta.

For Annette, writing is like "building a house. It begins with a good blueprint, pouring a strong foundation, adding strengthening structures, eventually adding the walls and rooms, and then attending to all the details that make it a strong and beautiful."
