Biography
Dr. Pardue’s interest in Christian theology began in thriving Filipino churches where he was baptized and discipled as a child. There he witnessed firsthand the transformative and liberating power of the Christian faith and wanted to understand it better. Motivated by a love for Scripture as words of life, he studied ancient languages and biblical exegesis in college, then pursued graduate work in systematic theology. After a decade of study in the United States, he returned to the Philippines in 2012 to serve the Filipino and wider Asian church through theological education. Alongside his academic work, Dr. Pardue loves working with the local church to help Christians deepen their faith and widen their vision for cross-cultural partnership and ministry.
Dr. Pardue envisions evangelical theology as a discipline that equips the church for faithful witness and missional service through studious attention to what God has said and done in Scripture and in Christ. His teaching and scholarship wager that theologians do their best work when they stand among the great multitude of Revelation 7:9. This means learning to converse with Christian communities around the globe and engaging the Christian tradition as we seek to discover and declare the riches of God’s work in Christ (Eph 4:12–13). Dr. Pardue is the author or editor of a dozen books, including Why Evangelical Theology Needs the Global Church (Baker Academic, 2023; Christianity Today Award of Merit, Missions/Global Church), Majority World Theology (IVP Academic, 2020), Asian Christian Theology (Langham, 2019), and The Mind of Christ: Humility and the Intellect in Early Christian Theology (T&T Clark, 2013). He is also the series editor for the Foundations in Asian Christian Thought series (Langham). His next major project is a theological commentary on the Acts of the Apostles for T&T Clark’s International Theological Commentary series.
Dr. Pardue will join the faculty of Litfin Divinity School in July 2027 after 15 years of service at the Asia Graduate School of Theology and International Graduate School of Leadership in the Philippines, where he most recently served as Professor of Theology and Director of the ThM/PhD in Theological Studies. He is accepting applications for PhD students in the area of Systematic Theology.
