Biography

Dr. Sangsuk Lee is an environmental engineer who bridges experimental and computational approaches to advance sustainable water treatment technologies. His research operates at the intersection of membrane science, transport modeling, and data-driven methods, focusing on developing scalable solutions for water purification, resource recovery, and environmental systems.

Prior to joining Wheaton College, Dr. Lee conducted postdoctoral research at the University of California Los Angeles, where he focused on the design and optimization of novel reverse osmosis technologies. His professional background also includes providing specialized engineering consulting for industrial desalination infrastructure.

Dr. Lee’s commitment to addressing global water challenges was deeply shaped during his undergraduate years, which included spending a year in Ethiopia working on water well drilling projects with Myungsung International Development. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Boulder, an M.S. from Carnegie Mellon University, and a B.S. from Korea University.
