Drew Bratcher is a writer and editor from Nashville. His essays and journalism, often about art and culture in the American South, have appeared in the Oxford American, Los Angeles Review of Books, Paris Review, Nowhere Magazine, Garden & Gun, Image Journal, Military History Quarterly, and many other publications. He worked as a feature writer and assistant editor at Washingtonian magazine, where he also wrote a monthly book column, Washington Read. Reporters he trained and mentored through United Press International’s UPI Next program have gone on to write for major publications in their home countries, as well as for UPI and the New York Times. A member of the National Book Critics Circle and the Association of Writers and Writing Programs, Bratcher currently lives in Chicagoland with his wife, the writer Emily Halonen Bratcher, and their four kids.
