"C.S. Lewis, Modernism, and Morality in Literature"

My honors thesis began with a question: Why did C.S. Lewis so abhor the work of T.S. Eliot? My investigations led me to examine Lewis' ethical objections to the modernist movement and to attempt to reconcile it with his opposition to ascribing moral and spiritual value to literature. Exploring the complexities and contradictions of his position offered a deeper understanding of his opinion of Modernism.

Completing this project proved to be an invaluable experience. It offered me the chance to delve deeply into a topic of academic significance and stretched my research and writing skills. I look back on it fondly, both as the culmination of my undergraduate experience and as a valuable foundation for my continued forays into the realm of literary scholarship.
