Statistics at Wheaton

Students of color at a predominantly white college have a unique experience in terms of both challenge and support. Wheaton is no exception. At times students of color seek out those from a background similar to their own and at other times students who are very different in order to stretch themselves. Students of color comprise over 20% of the campus.

The enrollment chart reflects the enrollment trends of over 40 years, and the table (below) reflects current enrollment information compared against Fall 2005. The undergrad percentage is calculated on a headcount of 2456 and graduate percentage is calculated on a headcount of 520 for Fall 2016. Please note that due to new reporting standards, Fall 2010 starts two (2) new categories (Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander and Two or More Races) which were parts of other data points in the past. As an example, the African American enrollment figures would increase by over 30. We rejoice that reporting facilitates students being able to identify holistically; however we recognize that enrollment data has been impacted.
