Messiah: Word Pictures by Timothy R. Botts Opening Reception

The Billy Graham Center Museum at Wheaton College will host an artist reception, book signing, and live art presentation to open the Museum's temporary exhibit "Messiah." The exhibit's opening reception takes place from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, with a program beginning at 6 p.m.

Calligraphic artist Timothy Botts will create a work of art in real time from the biblical text of composer G. F. Handel's famous oratorio. accompanied by a live ensemble playing excerpts from the music. Musicians from College Church in Wheaton will provide live musical improvisation from excerpts of Handel's "Messiah," arranged by Pastor of Worship Dave Bullock. Performing with Mr. Bullock are three Wheaton College students, Austin Alianiello ('16), Corin Droullard ('15), and Claudia Finsaas ('16).

Mr. Botts will sign copies of his books, including pre-orders of his brand new, extended edition, illustrated book "Messiah." Books and other materials will be available for purchase.

This event is free and open to the public. No RSVP is required. The exhibit "Messiah: Word Pictures by Timothy R. Botts" is on display through April 12, 2015. Admission is free. Donations are welcome.

Calligraphic Artist Timothy R. BottsCalligraphic Artist Timothy R. Botts graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University, where he studied calligraphy and earned a BFA in graphic design. His work has been exhibited in France, the Washington National Cathedral, and the Newberry Library, Chicago. He has designed more than 600 books at Tyndale House Publishers. He teaches, mentors, and curates exhibits for artists and organizations regularly, most recently founding Masterpiece Ministries, an arts outreach to high school students. Tim and his wife, Nancy, live in the nearby town of Glen Ellyn and have 3 grown children and 11 grandchildren.

 

Dave Bullock, Pastor of Worship and Music, College Church, Wheaton ILCollege Church Pastor of Worship and Music Dave Bullock was classically trained at The Julliard School and has played violin in several symphony orchestras. Before coming to College Church he served as minister of music with Stuart Briscoe at Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, WI and with Leith Anderson at Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie, MN. Dave is an avid motorcyclist and passionate about collaborating with the talents of others.
