Engelman Scholarship

The Engelman Family Missions scholarship is a unique opportunity available to Wheaton College students who are interested in missions and sports. It involves a summer internship with North Coast Calvary Church (NCCC) in Carlsbad, CA as well as a two-week International missions trip with one of NCCC’s ministry partners.

Students who are passionate about sports ministry and missions should consider applying. Interns will work with KidsGames, EdgeGames, MaxCamps, and International Sports Leadership Training (ISLT) while at NCCC. Additionally, there may be opportunities to interact with other local ministries and outreach such as homeless, surfing, urban youth, FCA, YoungLife, and a Pregnancy Resource Center.

Applicants must have completed at least two years of credit at Wheaton College. Preference will be given to students who are completing their internship for credit and who have outlined specific learning objectives for their experience.

The summer internship budget approximates $7,000, of which the scholarship fund will provide $3,500 and the student will raise $3,500 in tax deductible donations to NCCC. These funds will be used to pay for housing, room and board, gasoline/transportation, and the international missions trip.

Students participating in a for-credit internship will of course also work through the registrar's office to ensure all necessary paperwork and funding occurs.

Additionally, during the semester after the successful completion of a student’s internship, they will be eligible for a $3,000 scholarship. Interested candidates should complete this application by Wednesday, April 12 and submit it to the Center for Vocation and Career Office (CVC – SSB 208) or email it to Sarah Crose. The CVC will serve as the liaison with the Engelman family and help coordinate interviews with select candidates.
