Schedule Considerations

Semester Schedule
Your semester with Wheaton in Chicago coincides with Wheaton College’s academic calendar with only a few slight, but important, differences. Each semester generally begins the Saturday before classes start to allow for 2-3 days of orientation. This is very important to factor into your travel plans as it is necessary to be sure you receive all information to start the semester right. All other semester dates will be the same as the Wheaton campus calendar, including holidays and vacations. The schedule during finals week depends on the professors teaching the core classes that semester, but Wheaton in Chicago students typically do not have any obligations that week.

Typical orientation schedule
Eat Thai for lunch and Guatemalan for dinner. Follow it up with Indian and Ethiopian the next day!! Orientation is a crucial time for establishing yourself in your new home in the city. It is the beginning of a process that is simultaneously physical, emotional, and spiritual. It is your chance to settle into your new surroundings, but more importantly begin the process of entering into the life of the city. Orientation activities cover the spectrum from community building activities with your new roommates all the way to sociological and theological observations of the neighborhood community and the racial and ethnic interactions there. It’s also a perfect time to eat lots of incredible food.
