Ways of Exchange: ‘Coinherence’ in Charles Williams and C.S. Lewis
Dr. Paul Fiddes of the University of Oxford and Regent’s Park College, Oxford explored Wiliams’ idea of ‘co-inherence' in this Wade Center lecture from January 20, 2015. The term signifies mutual indwelling of human persons in each other, in Christ, in the Church and in the triune God. In this lecture Prof. Paul Fiddes asks whether the term offered Williams anything more than his previous related ideas of exchange, substitution and the theology of romantic love. He goes on to ask whether C.S. Lewis, in inheriting the idea from Williams, adds any further dimensions to its use.
