Professor of Systematic Theology since 1965 at the Faculté Libre de Théologie Evangélique in Vaux-sur-Seine (where he has also regularly taught Hebrew and philosophy), outside Paris, Professor Blocher is widely recognized as a careful and profound theologian and an evangelical statesman. He has lectured or taught in schools in Europe, Australia, Africa, Canada, and the US. He was a member of the Lausanne Committee on World Evangelization (19751980) and has also served the World Evangelical Fellowship/Alliance in a number of capacities over many years, including (since 1993) their Theological Commission Task Force for dialogue with the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. He has recently assumed the presidency of the Fellowship of European Evangelical Theologians.
Dr. Blocher studied at a number of institutions including the Sorbonne, London Bible College, Gordon Divinity School, and Faculté Libre de Théologie Protestante of Paris. He is the author of six books, four of which have appeared in English, and several dozen articles. His wife, Henriette, is a psychologist. They have three adult children and seven grandchildren.
